Bon Secours announces Michael J. Menen, M.D., FACC, has joined Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center as chief medical officer (CMO) effective September 11, 2017.
Dr. Menen will have oversight for safety, quality, patient experience, performance improvement, care management and clinical integration at St. Francis, the 130-bed hospital located in Midlothian, Va. Dr. Menen brings more than seven years of clinical, strategic, and operational leadership experience.

I’m excited to have someone of his caliber join St. Francis as we continue improving the health of our community.”
Dr. Menen presently serves on the Board of the Richmond Academy of Medicine and is co-chair of its Legislative Committee. He is certified by the American College of Physician Executives in leadership, finance, negotiation, marketing, strategic planning, communication and quality improvement.
“I look forward to working with the entire St. Francis clinical team as we continue to enhance the top-notch services at St. Francis and provide patients with the highest level of care possible,” said Dr. Menen. “I’m also excited to have a direct impact on patient care while serving as the hospital's CMO.”
For the past three years, Dr. Menen served at HCA Chippenham Johnston-Willis as CMO. Prior to his time at HCA, Dr. Menen practiced invasive cardiology in Eugene, Oregon and subsequently Providence Health in Olympia Washington. In addition, he was chief of staff/CMO at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene, Oregon, and then CMO for three years at Providence Health.
Dr. Menen holds a Bachelor of Science in Theoretical Mathematics from the University of California, Riverside. He earned his M.D. at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Prior to medical school, Dr. Menen taught math at an inner-city Los Angeles high school.
